Every day advertising companies slam both men and women for different issues, such as body image, stereotypes and objectification. This miss representation has caused many up roars and debates on how disgraceful, ignominious and repugnant these ads actually are. Due to these deliberations many of these objectifying ads have in fact been pulled from the view of the public, though they can still be found online.

Over the many years that advertising has been around, body shaming has been a very controversial topic, especially in recent years with a new era of love your body campaigns. These include ads that promote domestic violence, shame men and dumb men down! An ad that has recently been removed from the public view, though still being found on the internet is an ad that promotes milk. This ad portrays a very strong looking man with a large mass of muscle drinking milk. The man itself is not controversial or offensive unlike the wording in the ad is what made it a controversial scene. “Makes you strong enough to –hit her-”as this ad promotes domestic violence it was quickly pulled and removed from magazines. If looked as in a particular way. it is seen that men are being shamed due to the main focus in the ad being a man. As men in general are the main contributor to domestic violence, more attention is drawn to the ad, which is only meant to be promoting milk; not an unsafe environment for women. Throughout the years of growing up we always heard the term ‘boys will be boys’ or ‘he only does it because he likes you’ if we got hit, punched or poked. But as we got older, these ‘common’ behaviors turn into more serious acts such as domestic violence. As these behaviors are influenced by media whether it comes from ads, T.V shows, movies or games. Still portrays a negative representation of men to young boys, who will begin to believe that it’s a normal way to behave. It has been scientifically proven by professor Donovan at the children’s development research center that “children in today’s society have been exposed to so much violence towards women in ads and the media that boys and girls are 30% more likely to commit a domestic violence crime on their future significant other than men and women
