From an individual level, I find deep joy in advocating for people’s voices to be heard and in fighting against injustices around the world. In order to fulfill this joy, I have chosen to follow a legal path, which will implant the knowledge about the legal field in me and enhance my advocacy skills. The moments that I have felt the deepest sense of purpose are when I make a significant difference in someone’s life, no matter how small, either through advocacy, service or by simply doing an act of kindness in the hope that it will create a ripple effect. Seeing people have hope for a better future assures me that when people hold onto hope, they can overcome anything. Ten years after I graduate from law school, I hope to be a successful lawyer so as to have a platform that enables me to significantly change people’s lives for the better. First, I expect to have my own law firm in ten years, which will serve both the upper, middle and the lower class through pro-Bono work. In addition, I aim to establish a non-profit organization that supports people who are marginalized, including those suffering from poverty, child marriage victims and survivors, the homeless, the sick, incarcerated people, and much more. I am aware that it will take time to accomplish this goal, so currently, I use my skills to impact change by working with organizations that served is advantaged people. This is one of the reasons why I chose to take a gap year to do a year of service through the Vincentian Volunteers of Cincinnati.
