What do you think causes someone’s depression? Was it the sudden change of weather, from the sunlight to the constant rain? Is it that everyone hates them because they remember something the others don’t? Margot moved from Earth to Venus five years ago. On Venus, there is one hour of sunlight for every seven years of rain. One day when there was one hour of sun, she missed it because her classmates locked her in a closet. The characters were affected by the different types of conflict in “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury.

The different types of conflict in this story affect the characters because Margot experiences internal feelings of melancholy when living on the planet Venus. The author states, “Margot stood alone. She was a very frail girl who looked as if she had been lost in the rain for years and the rain had washed out the blue from her eyes and the red from her mouth and the yellow from her hair. ” The author is showing that Margot is not very joyful and filled with happiness but instead filled with sadness and melancholy.
