Globalization has dramatically changed the world that we live in and it will continue to change as time passes. It has connected the world in a way that nations dependent on each other in order to function. There are several pros and cons of globalization, but they are mostly negative. Globalization has led to the election of Donald Trump. His campaign was based on making “America Great Again”. Trump claims that he will create new jobs, however, that isn’t the only reason he was able to get elected the president of the United States. America has become too dependent on the imports from other countries and Donald Trump vows to end that dependency, gaining his support. Although there are positives, it's mainly negative. Globalization has affected the Trump campaign and aided him in getting elected as president. He’s stated over and over again that he doesn’t prefer for immigrants to fill in jobs here, disregarding the fact that they are qualified to hold those positions. People from other countries that come to the US get paid more compared to developing countries where most of them are immigrating from. This is one factor for the number of immigrants in the country. Technology is growing advanced, especially in first world nations. In first world countries, it’s easier and cheaper to pay for products that are imported than in third countries. Trump feels cheated by the international trade, especially with China. There have been some countries that have manipulated their currencies to prevent inflation and debt, while American politicians have allowed this to happen. China and Venezuela have done this, China being successful while Venezuela has not. He wants to end international trade and this has been a key factor in how he was able to win the 2016 Presidential election. President Trump wants to make America the way it was after the first world war, an industrial superpower. This means that he has to limit who comes into the country, to prevent cultural blending in order to keep his vision of an only “American” America.
