American Apparel is like the one girl back in high school that tries too hard to please everyone. The one girl that was attractive with all of the popular guys at school. She dresses very provocatively and yet she still does not fit-in with most of the other girls. Then she says a joke trying to cover up the wrong thing she has done and things just get awkward. By this point it's a little too late for that. American apparel is that company known worldwide for there hypersexual themes, provocative concepts and no value for sexualization women all in efforts to persuade young women to buy their clothing.

This brand encourages teens and young women who buy their clothes and guys will have sex with them. Giving young women a negative perspective of sex by convincing them to think wearing less clothes is very unattractive. A perfect example of this is the advertisement I selected, the young lady is laying down holding her stockings. As if impractical standards of beauty aren't harmful enough. By having young women look up to these advertisements gives them the wrong idea of what it takes to be beautiful. This therefore makes them believe that this is the okay thing to do, and then it turns into a unhealthy trend. These advertisements trick young girls into thinking showing off your body does not matter. When in fact it should, how someone portrays oneself to the world is how they are going to be viewed. One thing young women fail to think about is how this company explode women and how they will suffer. The idea that blondes are more fun, easy to get in bed, and have natural nice figures can forever change a young women’s ideal standard for beauty. Although it may seem like nothing is showing you have to dig deeper than what you see. To not only see what the company wants you to see but the reality of the photo which is doing something to please yourself or someone temporarily will only last temporarily. The guys in these ads are fully dressed because what he is wearing does not really matter, because men do not have to sell there souls to get what they want at the end of the night.
