"Be the change you want to see in the world"...and, if you can't be that change, then either get out of the way of the person who wants to be that change or support the individual with your financial resources.(Gandhi). Do you know someone who is trying to decide which organization to donate his/her time or money? Volunteering is an awesome way of giving back to your community and also while developing important social skills for example (affection, leadership, good communications skills, the ability to listen). There are many different types of volunteer opportunities available. Two wonderful opportunities that exist at the American red cross and my sister’s house. These two establishments are very different, but that is the beauty of the vast amount of volunteer opportunities that exist. For example, at the American Red Cross, they provide services such as disaster relief, plasma donations, supporting American army families, health and safety services, and they also handle international services. The American Red Cross supports military members, veterans, and their families not only prepare for but cope and also respond to the difficult challenges of the military service and they offer access to community resources to help an average of 150,000 military families and veterans each year. The American Red Cross reacts to roughly 70,000 catastrophes in the United States each year running from home flames that affect a family to hurricanes that affect thousands and thousands of people and also to earthquakes that effect millions. In these tragic times the American Red Cross provides a safe house, nourishment, wellbeing and mental administrations to help families and entire community get back on their feet. (American Red
