In the book Differentiated Instructional Strategies, One Size Doesn't Fit All, authors Gayle H. Gregory and Carolyn Chapman characterizes the sweet spot as the place where an individual's knowledge and new information connects and makes sense. The authors believe that to arouse the sweet spot in learning, teachers must lay a foundation that supports learning. The “sweet spot” in a general classroom must perpetuate a stable learning environment where students feel free to flourish, explore, question and challenge theories without ridicule or condemnation. The classroom has an enthusiastic instructor that presents curriculum objectives in an engaging manner that stimulates curiosity and relevance to twenty-first-century learners.
