In this scavenger hunt, I found Andy Warhol to be a very interesting person. Warhol’s original name was Andrew Warhola and he was born on August 6, 1928, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. When Warhol was 8, he contracted chorea. During that time his mom Julia Warhola, an embroider taught him drawing lessons. I didn’t expect that Warhol first learned drawing in this type of condition. When a person is sick especially with a rare disease they usually rest. However, Warhol didn’t do that instead he learned art from his mom who was a fine artist. Andy Warhol opened his own studio, “The Factory” in 1964. After his studio opened it became a place where celebrities and socialites would constantly appear. I can’t believe that he was a shot by Valerie Solanas, an aspiring writer, and radical feminist, on June 3, 1968, and was severely injured. Consequently, he stayed in the New York hospital and had a few surgeries done. After Warhol’s art career ended, he started writing books in the 1970s. He published the books, The Philosophy of Andy Warhol and Exposures. Besides that, he filmed more than 60 films in his career and worked on sculpture and photography. In the 1980s, he went to host Andy Warhol's TV and Andy Warhol's Fifteen Minutes on MTV, moving onto his career of television. Andy Warhol died on February 22, 1987, age 58 from sudden cardiac arrest. Also, Warhol was believed to be a gay man because he was never married and he said that he was still a virgin.
