Anheuser Busch Operations Management Strategy

2031 Words9 Pages

Introduction
In 2016 Americans drank over 8 billion gallons of beer that was brewed all across the globe (Kell 2017). Today, there are over 5,000 breweries in the United States alone, and the number is growing (Tuttle 2016). Anheuser Busch (AB) started in 1879 and is a huge player in the beer game today (Anheuser-Busch Companies, LLC 2016). With breweries all over the country brewing their signature Budweiser beer, they have become a staple in the American drinking scene. This paper will discuss the risks and management strategy for the product launch of a beer bottle that can withstand the freezing process to give beer consumers a faster and safer way to cool down their beer.

The largest production risk for launching a freezable bottle at Anheuser Busch is the inability to successfully produce all required bottles. Inability to produce the requested quantity to the requested delivery date can stem from multiple areas, including supply chain issues (delivery and/or quality), maintenance issues, personnel issues, and environmental issues. To mitigate these risks, the product launch must be carefully designed and integrated into the current production at AB. The supply chain risks are to be evaluated for each supplier, and a vulnerability assessment, which identifies the risks within a supplier’s operations, is to be performed (Chaudhuri 2013). The vulnerability assessment is to include reaction plans for identified risks. Additionally, multiple suppliers are to be identified that produce the same product/service to ensure delivery as needed and reduce risks associated with an individual supplier. All suppliers identified will be tasked with implementing lean strategies within their value stream to ensure production issues are mitigated within each supplier (Calantone …show more content…
