Joel Salatin, the Polyface Farms owner, has a strong opinion on how necessary it is to have a healthy area for animals to be raised in order for everyone to have food on their tables that was well taken care of. Salatin is arguing the fact that organic animals should be used among all Americans. Within the video, the farm owner uses pathos by stating the fact the chickens never see chlorine on his farm and do not get plump as they do in large factories. Along with that, Joel brought up the fact that the cows are able to graze the farms and fertilize on their own rather than having machine made products. On top of pathos, the speaker uses ethos to catch the audiences attention.
This passage best describes pathos because there is an emotional appeal and it appeals to deeply held values and beliefs. In “The Narrative of the Life of Fredrick Douglas” he begins to build his ethos in the opening of chapter one when he says that he doesn't know his birthday, unlike white citizens, who know all the details of their lives. Beginning with this fact establishes that Douglass can be trusted because of his direct personal experience. He also uses ethos referring to those who had great authority over him. In chapter 3, he talks about Colonel Lloyd and gives a very detailed description about him. Another example of the use of ethos is when he talks about Mr. Gore, the man who replaced Mr. Hopkins.

In a rhetorical analysis, Pathos, Ethos and Logos are writing techniques used to grab attention from the viewers. Pathos is used to activate an emotion, Ethos is defined for credibility, and Logos is based on logic. Each of these techniques used in writing, commercials and so on are identified in the poem “Please God, I’m only 17!” by Dr. Michael Polling. The poem is based on a young boy Jimmy Rowe, who was killed in a car accident at just 16 years old.
Millions of people from all across the world have witnessed the utter amazement of the circus. The elephants circling the arena in their colorful attire, the thrilling stallions performing their jaw dropping tricks, and the brave tigers leaping through hoops. Although the show is entertaining, many people don’t realize the suffering of these poor, defenseless animals, and what they go through to make the “perfect” show. Dunkin’ Donuts has been associated with a good breakfast and cup of coffee since 1950, so it is no surprise that they entered the market in selling coffee that can be brewed at home. The food advertisement of Dunkin’ Donuts uses ethos/pathos/logos to appeal to/target adult coffee drinkers that care about the environment. Dunkin’ Donuts uses ethos to target adult coffee drinkers with the appearance of Erik Weihenmayer, a blind man who achieved the incredible feat of climbing Mount Everest.
