Animal testing is when humans use animals to experiment a wide range of products from cosmetics to medication. Scientists use animals to test their new products for future human usage. Do Something is a profitless organization that motivates people to take action through national movements or projects that actually matters. Based on their website, over 100 millions animals are harmed and abused every year because of this cruelty. We strip these creatures’ freedom and lock them up in labs to allow the corporations to place a new lipstick in the market. Even animals protected by the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) can be harmed and abused because no one knows what happens behind the doors of those labs. According to the National Geographic, chimpanzees are our closest living relative. We share more than 95% of our genetic makeup with these animals. Due to the fact that chimpanzees are so closely related to humans, scientists perform experiments on them to find the best cure for humans. Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF) is also a nonprofit law organization that protect animals’ rights. As stated in aldf.org, “The U.S. is one of two countries in the world whose government openly permits it.” We have to keep in mind that chimpanzees is an endangered species, but we still perform ruthless tests on these animals. Vice News was allowed to film in Europe’s largest primate testing facility in the Netherlands. The facility is called the Biomedical Primate Research Center (BPRC). In the video, the narrator stated that for the last twenty years, protesters have demanded the freedom of these monkey infront of the facility. The monkeys that qualify to be test subjects are separated from their families and put into small, confined cages. The video also states that nine out of ten experimental drugs still fail in clinical studies on humans after successful lab on animal testing. Even after all the torture the animals went through, the drugs are only successful ten percent of the time. Animal testing in these labs treat animals unjustly and it is not guaranteed they would be
