During my junior year of high school I was taught general chemistry for the first time. My interest for molecules, compounds, and their bonds spurred through my involvement in Chemistry and Biology. After completing these courses my motivation to pursue a career in Chemistry increased. Thus my decision became certain, and I applied to University under the Science Department. In addition to the course that awakened my interest, I sought to involve myself in volunteer opportunities, one of which involved exposure to hospital environments. These experiences opened my eyes to the needs of people, and became part of the foundation that lead me to aspire a career in Pharmacy. I applied these abilities and further developed them through my studies. Those years were categorized as intensive periods full of hard work and challenges, but for me the experiences they provided helped me become an organized and dedicated person. In addition to working and studying in 2013, I was part of a special project were I volunteered at Portal de Amor, a shelter for children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. By taking care of the children, helping the caretakers in the kitchen, and cleaning their facilities, I gained experiences that put in perspective the challenges these children face day to day after they’ve been removed from their homes, and how the smallest things can make a difference. Another experience that strengthened my motivation to serve in the field was a course in Active Pharmacy Ingredients. This course gave me a look into the Pharmacy Industry’s regulations, and the steps required in an emergency. Through the course of college I have kept busy to develop the fast pace expected from pharmacy students. As a result of all this hard work, in 2014 I achieved a place in the Dean’s List at our University’s Noche de Logros, an activity where students are recognized for their outstanding achievements.
