Achieving excellence in education, offering the utmost in patient care, and providing service to the community are the goals I set for my dental career. I believe that by attending NYU, I will acquire the knowledge that I need in order to excel as a dentist. With a combination of world renown professors and state of the art clinics, I undoubtedly know that I will be given the opportunity to learn the knowledge I desire. When looking at NYU College of Dentistry, I see myself flourishing, not only as a dentist, but as a person. Many times, dental students are only worried about the mental growth in the classroom, but by utilizing the outreach program, I hope to provide a service to the local community and work on my patient care. I believe that community service is a significant asset to anyone’s life. One moment in particular is when I helped with a free dental clinic in my local community. While many applicants have similar accomplishments, the accomplishment that I felt was within myself is the reason why I have such a passion for community service. The majority of the people that attended this clinic were those who were affected by the fire that consumed most of Napa Valley. Over 3,000 people were left homeless, and after a year and a half, people were still struggling to make amends for what the fire did to them. The sense of accomplishment I felt after I helped those at the local dental clinic led me to believe that one good deed leads to another. The accomplishment that I feel sets me apart from most applicants is the self-growth I experienced as a result of this dental clinic, which lead me to my passion for community
