The Government regulates a lot of things in our everyday life. Its stuff we almost don’t even realize that they control. Such as, our school lunches that Michele Obama alternated to be “healthier”, and now is adjusted and controlled. Also, the government regulates taxes that the majority of our population pays. In addition, Television regulations, they control what is acceptable to watch. Also, what student can and can’t learn in school. In other words, what they required to be taught such as the TEKS, C-Scope, etcetera . Now, it has come too far. The government is wanting to manage life or death. When this certain event takes place, people don’t see death row as an “act of violence”. The society normally sees this act as an “act of justice” to the community, state, country, or maybe even personally. The death penalty is explained to be as the “golden rule”, as in treat others how you want to be treated. It is wanted to bring fairness in whatever murderous crime went on, to give the victim the justice they may need or deserve. This also provides closure, in a sense, so citizens won’t fret about their safety. However, the death penalty has happened since the beginning of time. Our generations don’t find death penalty wrong, because through history it happens more often. It is indeed taking a life of a human being. Even though it may be the ending of a serial killer, mass murderer, etc., they are still a person with rights and feelings. “There is no justification of any kind for so-called "mercy killing." (“Pro-life”). This means killing for the benefit of humanity, with no pain. There is no point in it. This is the governments way of saying they’re going to protect the innocent people by executing the ones who committed cruel crimes, instead of allowing the criminal to get the corrective guidance they need. The ways of how it has evolved such as the electric chair, hanging, gas chambers or a gun to someone’s head is now a lethal injection. This still makes it morally wrong. Just because the death isn’t as gruesome as it used to be doesn’t make it right. However, people see the killer usually as a “person”, some don’t understand that person is a brother, dad, son. Also, maybe even a sister, mom, or daughter. The death penalty is viewed a lot like abortion. Our culture doesn’t find anything wrong with the excessive killing of murderers or babies.
