Throughout the years there have been many incidents involving gun control. The United States is the top country that has the most gun- related crimes. Here in the U.S. there should be stricter laws in how gun control should be handle and specific restrictions with guns in general. Even though some people feel that they have the right to the 2nd amendment, there should be stricter laws on handling weapons such as more thorough background checks and mental health screenings. To begin with, “recent events that involve tragedies, violent acts and massacres due from guns have raised the issue of gun control’ (Breck). “In the screening of the movie “The Dark Knight” which was shown in Aurora, Colorado. The opposing argument would suggest that “the private sale in our federal gun laws allows anyone who is not a licensed gun dealer to sell a gun without a background check”(“Guns”).With this private sell anyone is permissible to purchase a gun without undergoing a background check. Which means, convicted felons, and or the mentally ill would be able to purchase a gun. Although some people purchase guns under the black market it would be more efficient and safer if he or she were to purchase a gun the correct way and using the background check system. Less robberies, accidental shootings, suicides and massacres would occur. If background checks were banned it would not “cover violent criminals and those applicants that suffer from mental health because any records of mental health would be submitted through the background check system” (Datcher).
