As stated in the Declaration of Independence, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” (U.S. Declaration of Independence). It is only conceivable then that individuals should have the tools available to protect their rights, however current anti-gun/gun control groups have desired to do just that. By law you are protected to pursue happiness as long as it does not interfere with the life or liberty of another individual. The simple act of making firearms illegal, creating excessive purchase restrictions, or implementing “firearm free zones” will not prevent the number of violent gun crimes, or increase society’s safety. …show more content…

This movement failed miserably due to uncontrolled distilleries. While the main reason for prohibition was religious based, the end result created major health threats and a major source of income for organized crime. The same would happen for a total firearm ban. Firearm sales would move too illegal sales with only criminals having possession. These illegal sales would provide additional funds to gangs, international drug cartels, and other crime organizations. Additionally, the federal and state governments would lose income from firearm, and ammo sales, and the National Park Service would lose revenue from hunting permits. These loss of revenue would only intensify the fiscal constraints of the government as it would have to increase spending to locate, confiscate, and destroy
