In the United States, roughly twenty-two percent of Americans own at least one or more guns. It seems to be the most considerable widespread debate across the country, with majority of the left trying to ban or even outlaw guns completely; while the right side argues to defend their constitutional right as American citizens to possess and bear arms. As American citizens, we all possess the right to defend ourselves, and our families from anyone trying to do us harm, whether that may be from a criminal breaking and entering or a overpowered government trying to take our fundamental rights from the people living in the free states. Stricter laws on guns could be put into place to ensure the safety of others, but taking away someone else's property is unconstitutional, and punishing the people who did nothing wrong by taking their guns away will solve nothing. …show more content…
Every store that sells firearms is required to run a thorough background investigation for any signs that prove an individual cannot buy any kind of gun due to their past history records. These background checks are already in effect; it is up to the law enforcers to keep these profiles up-to-date, not the civilians. Instead of attacking the ones who support our constitution and our fundamental rights, enforce the ones who’s entire job is to find these red flags from individuals and apprehend them to keep the rest of our society safe. The problem stands in between the people, not the gun
