Should Community College be Free Since today's workplace demands better skills and profession than a century ago where most of the society lived and worked on farming jobs. However, today's jobs require special skills, know how and higher education degree. In fact, the information economy of today demands more sophisticated skills than decades ago and requires more specific qualification type of knowledge. Therefore, more and more jobs in the future will require a student to have a college degree or higher. A high school diploma will get you nowhere any more. Many bills were proposed to make to make colleges free. “During his 2015 state of the union address, President Barack Obama unveiled America’s college promise, a plan to make two years community college free for responsible students who attend class and keep their grades above minimum threshold.”(Morgan, 2016). Former President Obama wanted to make community college free for everyone because he knew the tuition cost was high and a lot of families can’t afford it. Many parts of the world where college is a huge priority have free college. Countries like Finland, Denmark, Ireland, Iceland, Sweden and Germany have free tuition colleges. Making Colleges free would also have a positive impact on our economy overall and those student who wish to attend college but can’t could attend college and get the education they need to succeed in life. A lot of countries around the world have made colleges free to students that wish to go to college. Many countries in Europe have made college free or reduced tuition. Many students graduate without having to worry about a debt or loan to payback. This has a positive outcome on the economy because once students graduate from college, they can start contributing to the country’s economy right away without worrying about debts and loans. My Solution is to make college free of tuition. Making college free of tuition has a lot of positive outcomes.
