Marijuana has a lot of benefits that people do not understand. Justin Trudeau and the liberal party said on the liberal website “We will legalize, regulate, and restrict access to marijuana.”(1)This is a positive direction that canada is going in. There is so many positive things that can come out of the legalization of marijuana such as job opportunity, significant reduction in crime rate and taxing users for it. Alongside any great thing come along some minor issues. Some of these isues are underaged drug use and sale issues. They will have to make a lot of laws to make the use of cannabis legal. The legalization of this drug will create many opportunities for Canada.

One of the main issues is youth using the drug. One negative effect of using marijuana is that it stunts brain growth and that will be an issue with kids using the drug. Studies say that your brain stops growing at the approximate age of 27. If the government made the legal age of buying marijuana 21 it wouldn't eliminate the issue but it would make it better. Another way to help and make people more aware of the negative things people are doing to themselves is to put warning labels on the product just like tobacco products. Another issue is how will marijuana be sold. There is a lot of different ways that it could be sold but the main way that has worked in the past is to sell it out of a dispensary. A dispensary is basicly like a liquor store for cannabis. It would be properly secured just like a liquor store.
