Stem cell use and research is often seen as controversial, but when you learn more about it, you realize that they can be used in a way that does little to no harm. A lot of good can come from the use of stem cells for people who have been injured or are sick, and in all cases (if the law is being followed), consent is given to obtain and use stem cells. The question we are seeking to answer is should the use of stem cells be banned or not, and in my opinion, not all uses of stem cells should be banned, because the risks outweigh the benefits.
Stem cells are cells that are undifferentiated and can regenerate themselves. This ability is what makes researchers so interested in trying to use them for medical procedures and research. Not only do they want to be able to use them to help with medical treatments, they believe through their use in research they can gain a better understanding of tissues. By studying these cells, they can do different tests and procedures to see how the cells react to different things like medications, and treatments. The use of stem cells has a lot of issues surrounding it, and many questions are still left unanswered. If it was found that stem cells from embryos had the greatest benefits, then researchers may start offering funding to people for donated embryos. Then people in need of money might do risky things in order to get an embryo to donate, like abort their babies. Also, you can obtain stem cells without killing, and there are many benefits to using those stem cells, and they have been used to help people and researchers for a long time.
