Arguments Against Abortion

Many people believe that abortion is murder, but that is not the case, just because somebody gets an abortion it does not mean they are a bad person. Abortion should be legal because women should have a say to what happens to their body, prohibiting abortions will lead to illegal and unsafe abortions, and because pregnancy and child birth is a massive financial undertaking.

Women should have the right to not want a child if they are not ready for it. Some reasons why women may want an abortion could be in the case of rape or incest. Although I have never experienced either of these situations, I would never want to look at my child and be remembered of the traumatic experience that had happened to me. It just simply means that you are not prepared for a child. Missouri Republican Representative, Todd Akin, tends to disagree with my reasonings. Akins states, "When rape results in pregnancy, the baby has the same right to life as any child born by mutually loving parents."

Illegalizing abortion may lead to illegal and unsafe abortions because women are still going to have abortions if its legal or not. I have seen in numerous movies where girls are kidnapped and raped and use hangers to kill their babies because they do not want them. This is very unsafe because the mother can end up hurting herself.

Weed is a prime example for this reason stated above. Although some states have weed banned people still find a way to get access to it and use it. The same goes for abortions, banning abortions will only make matters worse. Marlene Gerber Fried stated, " A seventeen-year-old with one child, for example, drank a bottle of rubbing alcohol to cause a miscarriage; a fourteen-year-old asked her boyfriend to kick her in the stomach and push her down the stairs." These teenagers were led to do abortion this way because there was not enough access to abortion for them to get it done
