Aside from gun control why should the 2nd amendment even be protected. I've been defending firearms and the 2nd Amendment this whole paper but what are the reasons I'm doing this and why do other people around the country do this to.Some people in this country the Second Amendment It's just a bad and right that a lot of people have in this country, put the some people it means a lot to them in this part of their culture or their family. If the government was created to protect these rights, why are they now trying to destroy the 2nd Amendment, because governments fear armed populations (Anna Berkes). The reason is governments fear firearms because citizens with firearms can protect themselves against tyranny (Anna Berkes). Think about it, if a government tried to gain complete control over a country and the citizen we not armed, but the government had a military, the citizen could not fights back or even threaten the tyranny of the government, But if a government tried to gain complete control of an armed population, such as America, the government would not be able to, or have a incredibly hard time fighting back millions of armed Americans. This builds on the premise of firearms being used for defense, the 2nd Amendment allows American citizens to have the most reliable weapons for self defense in the modern day. According to SASI, handguns are the number one weapons of choice for self defense (Jack). Taking away the 2nd Amendment would only take the defense away from citizens and not change anything with the criminals. Another reason the 2nd Amendment should be protected is the government is always trying hard to get stricter gun-control laws, just recently President Obama decided to pass many executive actions for enforcing gun-control according to the National Conference of State Legislatures (“National Conference of State Legislatures”). So another question I ask is, why does the government attempt to enforce harsh gun laws on the citizens, yet the government itself, including many politicians, use guns to protect themselves. But that doesn't seem to be a problem many people accept.
