Arguments Against Jim Crow Laws

Jim Crow Law is are many varieties of barbarous and repulsive laws that segregate Negroes in society. This means that many Negroes had been brutally killed or lynched for disobeying the rules. The quote “Separate but equal,” is not equal at all. Jim Crow Laws were made to put the “savages” to their rightful place. For example, Jim Crow Laws were nothing but an inhumane act of segregation that bands a person to love whomever they feel attracted to. “All marriage between a white person and a negro, or between a white person and a person of negro descent to the fourth generation inclusive, are hereby forever prohibited,” as stated in page 176. This context appalled to me as a law restrained Negroes to love a female that is born as a White, and that goes the opposite way as well. This proves that loving someone that is not the same colored skin as you is something that is looked down upon. …show more content…

As stated on page 179, “The schools for the white children and the schools for Negro children shall be conducted separately.” In my opinion Negro children are being treated like trash because whatever is left for them to use as their school supplies, they must use it without complaints because they might be punished. This shows to me that even childrens were treated like disgusting creatures during this era, this also proves that the Jim Crow Laws are very inhumane for it abuses the rights of those that are innocent. Finally, In the Jim Crow website, I learned that Negroes that tried to fight the unjust or broke the “law” were lynched or killed in a different way. It showed that in Texas, 353 Negroes were lynched whereas 141 Whites were also lynched for helping out the colored people. It saddens me that people that filled with greed and lust for power, would even kill their own kin just because of standing along the ones that are less
