Arguments Against Standardized Testing

Imagine, sitting in a classroom with the air conditioning running on a sunny afternoon in the month of May. Until, BAM! Another standardized test is in front of you. Students should not take standardized tests. Why you ask? Standardized tests lavish the education of U.S. students, giving out excessive and limitless amounts of testing each year, and increase stress levels for the U.S. students, administrators, and the teachers of OUR future.

To begin with, parents say standardized testing is good for their child in order to succeed in life for the better. Yes, it’s true! Students do take their time, answering carefully on exams. Although, this could be an issue. Believe it or not, it wastes learning time! According to “NEWSELA,” an average student takes approximately twenty to twenty-five hours spent on testing. But, is that enough? Hear this: an average student take overall 112 exams thru preschool and 12th grade, says NEWSELA. As a result, “NEWSELA.com”, they recently took a study of 66 massive school districts, in which testing starts to increase rapidly in 1st grade thru 5th grade. Excessive testing in earlier grade levels could be a major issue for a 5-10 year old to deal with. Speaking of which, there’s a third reason where us humans had this happen before: STRESS.
States and school districts can coordinate standardized testing. Although, will it impact the student enough? Teachers and students stress out completely over theses standardized tests. They put tons of pressure of the student and have a negative impact and put out a risk of horrible health consequences, according to Columbia University.com Columbia University.com says, for some of school systems, they are beneath pressure to increase their test scores, so they use the student’s recess time.
