According to a survey conducted by CTV News in 16 countries of more than 18,500 people, about 70 percent of the people are willing to pay extra dollars for clothes and consumer goods that were produced ethically under safe working conditions (J.Rao). These key bits of information point to a changing landscape in consumer purchasing today. The success of an organization or a company today depends on the ethical standing and its compliance with corporate social responsibility. Artik stands firm on its commitment to ethical manufacturing, and this can be analyzed further by looking at the company's international supplier, Gildan Activewear. Gildan Activewear, a Canadian multinational headquartered in Montreal, Quebec has a long past of ethical manufacturing. According to the company's mission statement, the company "strive[s] to be the industry leader by providing the highest quality branded manufactured products" to customers (Gildan Activewear). At Gildan Activewear, the good quality of products is achieved by implementing a proactive policy rather than that of a reactive one. This policy focuses on developing and implementing effective processes at each step of production. These steps are carefully followed by complying to the company's corporate social responsibility of minimizing waste that affects the environment, work based on team work under safe working conditions and continuous improvement. According to Gildan Activewear, the company has reduced up to 25% of its waste landfills since 2010 and recycled up to 91% of the left waste. The majority of rights presented in figure 1 are followed and implemented by Gildan Activewear in its facilities around the world.
