Year-round schooling can cause students to become more stressed out versus traditional schooling. As we have seen the different pros and cons, I would like to firmly state that public year-round schooling shouldn’t be implemented in our education system. I do not believe in it for our current generation or any future ones. Many students do not need the strict structure of year-round schooling, as they are becoming increasingly smarter. Year-round schooling, like many other ideas, has its pros and cons but can be steadily confirmed as ineffective.

A few reasons schools should not convert to year round schooling is because students can even forget something they learned, in a short period of time, and then the teachers would have to reteach the same topic, which is extremely frustrating. The students would also spend less time with their family, because they don’t have the traditional summer break. Not only that, but it causes parents more stress to have to plan ahead of time for how they were going to take care of their children whenever they had breaks (which were very frequent). If this claim is not listened to, teachers teach the same thing repeatedly, family bonds weaken, it disrupts parents work, and it risks the child’s safety.

Some schools have been questioning whether they should have a schedule that has classes year-round instead of a regular schedule, where there are no classes in the summer. I do believe that the current school calendar needs to be modified to meet the needs of my students. The current school year does not allow my students enough opportunities to unwind and recharge. Though many parents like the opportunities that a long summer provides (June to September), having year-round schooling would provide my students with continuous year-round instruction. For the students that I work with, if I taught them year-round, retaining valuable skills and academics may not be as big of a struggle, as it currently is. Many of my students loose a great deal of what is taught over the summer.
Year-round school would eliminate that, letting teachers go more in-depth on topics or cover more topics over a longer period of time. Students would be able to learn more information without forgetting it before the next school year. Some teachers rush to cover the required curriculum standards during the year because of the time spent reviewing last year’s skills. Having smaller breaks throughout the year would certainly lower the number of definitions, equations, and random factoids that would have to be reviewed or relearned during the new school
I am against year-round schooling because it gives students little to no time for breaks, it would become an inconvenience to students, teachers, and parents, and it would burn students out much more quickly. Having to work all year round would bee annoying to anybody, including students. Year- round schooling gives students little to no breaks from school without counting holiday vacations. It does mean students would go to school for less days a week, however, this would also mean teachers would have to compensate for this by giving them a lot of homework over this extended weekend. Students would still be working during these days so they might as well have just had school on those days.
Questions about education always are debatable- how to improve it, how students can get possible education, what is the best way to teach students, etc. A constant discussion in the USA – should schools be in session year round? When schools just started to work, summers were necessary because children needed to do farm work, however nowadays summer vacation from school does not have any more that purpose. Year-round education is a concept which reorganizes the school year to provide more continuous learning by spacing the long summer vacation into shorter, more frequent vacations throughout the year (Johnson).
