Amazing Athena
Ever wanted to be one of the greatest goddesses of all time? Athena is the best representation of that. She is the Greek goddess of war and crafts. Athena is extremely intelligent, courageous, and skillful. She is said to have never put up with defeat. She is able to bestow victory on those who strive for greatness. Athena can be found many times in The Odyssey, and in Homer’s other epic, The Iliad. Athena has many different human qualities, myths associated with her, and purposes to Greek culture.
Athena has a variety of human qualities. In addition, her behaviors relate to those we express in our everyday lives. Athena was a polite and urban goddess. The Britannica School states that “her father was Zeus and Athena was his favorite daughter (“Athena”).” Athena represents the positive aspects of war such as its nobility. Athena is represented as a young female “dressed with the fittings of a male soldier (Hansen).” Athena used great intelligence to win all of her battles. She also “taught craftsmen how to make carriages and chariots” (Hansen). Athena’s most famous sanctuary was the Parthenon. It was built “on the acropolis, also known as the center of a city (Littleton).” Athena has countless features that make her similar to humans and act the same way as us. …show more content…

Also, it is said that Zeus gave birth out of his head and many other odd body parts. Zeus and Metis are two of the strongest gods in Greek mythology and “had the power to make an extremely powerful baby (Parada).” Zeus heard that Metis was pregnant with what could be a baby that would overthrow Zeus on the throne at Mount Olympus. Zeus was not delighted and decided to swallow Metis while she was pregnant. When the time came for the birth to happen, Hephaestus, struck the head of Zeus with an axe, and “Athena, fully armed, came out of the top of his head at the Triton river in Libya” (Parada). Athena was born.
