Ever since 1788 when Australia was discovered by Captain Cook the flag has contained the Union jack, In the UK the Union Jack may be patriotic, it may stand for peace and union but here the union jack stands for disrespect, oppression and the killing of the original custodians of this land. Right now, hundreds of refugees flee from their homes for safety, a better life, a better education, a better home, better jobs and many other reasons. For so long, refugees are still being treated like outsiders. They leave their countries even if it means leaving their families, jobs and everything else, bringing whatever they can with them.
