Australian Convict Paragraph I think that the Australian convicts were not treated very well, sometimes they were; forced to work in terrible conditions, not fed very well, and work for “the little things.” Some convicts were turned from a bad person to a good one. Convicts had to march to a body of water, move large logs to other nearby islands, then march back. One man was sent to jail because he stole a beehive, due to this, he had to move logs to nearby islands in the freezing cold water. The convicts were not fed very well.

Criminal law covers the area of crimes and is there to maintain law and order. A crime refers to a breach of one or more rule of law. The society believes that individuals should be held responsible for their actions, especially when those actions constitutes a crime that would endanger the safety of today’s society. In the eye of the law, in order to paint an individual as guilty, the prosecution must prove that the defendant committed an actus reus had mens rea at the same time. Actus reus refers to a guilty act and mens rea means a guilty state of mind.
Improving the safety of a large amount of people is not always an easy task to do. Just because there are law enforcement officers patrolling the streets in the state and federal level, it doesn’t mean they could keep the country safe. Law enforcement could only protect so much land in a specific amount of time. Criminal justice activities as a measure of entrusting popular will, it carries the public expectation towards the fair trial. This desire can boil down to the untiring pursuit of common value ideal and belief, which is social justice. Even in the most dangerous moments, the system provides the best safety protocols. Not only does it provide the individual's safety as the person on the job, the individual that gets charged with anything also provides what is best for the person even in charge of the crime. For the most part, the pay you get is the same as others but as you improve on your skills and work hard to get to the top of your rank the more of pay you get. The statement given to me basically states that by looking at our prison system which is a key component in our criminal justice system you can see that those who have power and money are the winners and they run the system and the laws that put people in prison. It means that the prison system could have biases because those who established it may carry the biases of winners. I take it as the wealthy basically can get away with anything. They use our prison system in order to make money for themselves and for the government. To me the quote just confirms the radical theorist point of view on crime; crime centers on political and social class issue and the problem with crime is in terms of class, race, gender, culture and history.
