The article, “Faces of Autism”, by Pamela Hudson Baker, Mary Murray, and other colleagues is informative and insightful because the authors give detailed stories about the two children who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Both of these children have varying behaviors and personality characteristics, and the authors indulge readers with helpful strategies that can be implemented in a classroom setting to ensure teachers can better accommodate the student with the similar commonalities. At this point in time in education, teachers need to know how to effectively implement new strategies such as like the strategies mentioned in this article because there is currently such a rapid growth in individuals who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. According to the article, “Prevalence and Characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorder Among Children Aged 8 Years…” “Prevalence of autism in U.S. children increased by 119.4
For the past year and a half, I have been working as a Line and Lead Therapist with Autism and Beyond, providing Applied Behavior Analysis to children on the Autism Spectrum. And it has been during this time that my professional philosophy has been tested and proven time after time. My professional philosophy is to show children that no matter what they can succeed and be successful in a wide variety of areas. I believe that every child and their parents has an equal opportunity to learn, if given the proper tools to succeed. As educators and advocates it is our job to work for our families making sure their needs are being met and that the environment we help them to create is conducive for all to succeed and grow.
The coffee shop I work in has regular customers who are on the autistic spectrum. I have studied AS Level Psychology, AS Level Health and Social Care (Double Award), AS Level Media. I am carrying on A-level Health and Social Care and Psychology. AS Psychology was a stimulating subject to study because it laid down the basics of different therapies and different explanations for human behaviour such as obedience and compliance. AS Health and Social Care links into Psychology by showing the causal relationships between different psychological and physiological disorders.

I plan to work with either work with survivors of domestic abuse or sexual assault or specifically with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Regardless of where I end up I want to empower, encourage, and support my clients, especially my women clients, where ever I go. I want to work with domestic abuse and sexual assault survivors because for one, it is a rewarding field which will keep me challenged, alert and will allow me to grow every day. I would also enjoy working with people with ASDs, specifically children, with the disorder. I would potentially want to work with this group because my nephew was diagnosed with Asperbergers a few years ago and I have seen the need and support that children with ASDs need and I have also seen how hard it was for

Female Autism Spectrum Disorder Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a social impairment that affects individuals’ relationships. The adolescence is an age of social learning as well as biological change for most developing children. Those with a disability, such as ASD, are drastically affected negatively in developing their social learning and skills. 1 in every 5 people with ASD is female, yet most of the research on autism spectrum disorder focuses on males, which limits our understanding of ASD in females. Social competences, and levels of anxiety and depressions, are two of the areas to focus on when studying the social and emotional health of adolescence with ASD.
For this internship, I provided early intensive behavior intervention services for children aged 2-7 years diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. I helped children improve their independence, skill development, self-care, safety, sensory processing, and communication skills. I also interned at The Bridge Autism Clinic as a Behavior Therapist during the summer of 2022. While employed there, I worked with children aged 2-12 diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. I followed each child's prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols to help improve their skills and prepare them for school.
I see myself professionally five years from now as an educator leading an organization that provides services to children with disabilities that helps them discover their strengths and creates a positive vision for their future careers. My interest in Special Education goes back to the time when I was 2nd year High school. Since I was studying in a catholic school, we were required to join various outreach programs. At a young age, I was already exposed to the life outside the prestigious school. I used to teach unfortunate children in a squatter area.
For the past few months, I have been working as a behavior technician. It has been so fulfilling to apply my psychology knowledge to the work I have been doing. The children I provide treatment for have autism, and the therapy is based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Although I started the job with limited knowledge of ABA, I have discovered so much about
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, Briona Mcall, as your child’s new teacher in K-2 CDC special education class. I was recently hired at Holston View Elementary School as Mrs. McMurray is moving to Hong Kong to teach special education. We are excited for her and wish her the best. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Special Education from East Tennessee State University in 2015. I completed my student teaching in Bristol at Anderson Elementary and Tennessee High School
Ever since I was younger, I have wanted to make an impact in the lives around me. After I completed countless hours of research and speaking to those around who have chosen similar career paths with success, I have finally found a specific career that fits my personality and my future goals; I have chosen to be an applied behavior analyst in the spectrum of autism. All my life I have wanted to work closely with those who have developmental disabilities, and my desire to learn more has grown as I have gotten closer to beginning a new chapter in my life, which is obtaining a college degree. I became more interested in the large spectrum of autism after my brother was diagnosed in the spectrum at seven years old, that was when I realized the spectrum
The article “How Magic Changes Our Expectations About Autism” by Gustav Kuhn, Anastasia Kourkoulou and Susan R. Leekam, published in Psychological Science, is about how individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) perceive magic as opposed to the individuals that are considered typically developing (TD). The authors of the article have hypothesize that due to the ASD’s group tendency to ignore social cues and because of their heighted awareness of small details, the ASD group will not be trick as easily as the TD group. The magic trick used in this study is the vanishing-ball illusion, were the magician uses social cues to misdirect the audience’s attention so the audiences will perceive the ball vanish in midair (Gustav, Anastasia, Leeka, 2010). The vanishing-ball is
