Bambi Artist Personal Statement

As a child I loved to draw pictures of anything I had on my mind from the time I picked up a pencil. That would include my pets, characters I imagined, and even comic strips that were supposed to be “funny”. I was introduced to animation when I watched the “how it was made” after watching “Bambi”. Watching how the Disney artists made Bambi peaked my interest in animation and inspired me so much that my drawing skills really began to develop and grow. I realized that I could create characters and bring them to life, just like the creators of my favorite cartoons. Drawing and character development opened up my eyes to what being creative was all about. Bringing my characters to life was amazing and encouraged me to keep drawing. This allowed me to further my art skills by trying to become part of the Art Center, something that required me to audition. I was very lucky, the following year I got accepted into the Center for the Arts Visual Art Program. I thought I could draw before joining the program, oh how I was wrong! Being an art center student has taught me how to set up a picture, where to take inspiration from, how to draw realism and self portraits, art history, and so much more! The program introduced me to everything that the art world offers including running an art gallery showing and being an art critic. Being an art center student has helped me grow as an artist and although trying at times solidified my choice to become an animator. This experience has taught me to be the best artist I can be under pressure and doing types of art that I normally would not consider in my field of interest. It has been difficult, yet I kept going towards my ambition in becoming an animator. I made up my mind and was not going to throw all those years of training
