This paper is about me attending a worship service that is different from my own religious practices. I thought I should find out more about my religious upbringing and service practices. The Baptist church experience for me was spreading the word of god and studying the bible and learning what Gods plans are for me. God was the focal point of worship and how I must let him into my life to help me stay on the righteous path. God is always there when I need help good times and bad times. I was baptized in the same church my mother attended as a child. Baptism is a ritual done that helps one become closer to God. I have visited other churches with different rituals and traditions. At the Baptist church, I’m a member of there are rituals that I learned and know and accepted and took part in doing. I was an usher and helped escort members and guests to their seats. I took part in the children’s choir and sand hymns during service. I went to children church as I got older to bible study etc. I leaned the many traditions and rituals that are a part of the church I grew up attending.
I decided to attend a worship service different from what I am familiar with. I was attentive to what I noticed what was different and similar worship practices from at my church. I decided to do this project because it gave me a chance to experience a different service and learn something new. I attended the Northside Church of Christ worship service. It was a different experience for me seeing a different style of worship. The visit was pleasant. The members were friendly and welcomed me. I noticed the similarities and differences from my church home and this one. The church has a different set up for its congregation. The worship area had chairs instead of wooden pews.
