Her band consisted of her brother, the bass guitarist; her sister, the drummer; herself, lead singer; and her father as manager of the group.
Selena changed the music world in many different ways. Selena was the first female singer of Tejano music to ever have a large amount of success. Before Selena, there wasn’t many female artist. She was the one opened the door for many other latin female artists. In Tejano music, people couldn’t see women produce good music nor gain popularity.
This helped her develop her vocal skills. She then graduated at the age of 16 and was valedictorian of her class. She began working with Columbia records and ever since then she has had continuous success with her career (Alicia Keys). Alicia keys had many musical influences. Some of those people include, Nina Simone, Barbara Streisand,Marvin Gaye, and Willa Cather (Fiore Raymond).

She helped to spread the word about the reality in those times, what people knew existed, but never talked about.
