My ability to think critically grew over the course of my degree in each of the four basic skills concerning critical thinking according to the Critical Thinking Basic Skills test; which was required as a part of this degree. Dr. Linda Elder, Dr. Richard Paul, and Mr. Rush Cosgrove of the Center developed the Critical Thinking Basic Concepts & Understanding Test for Critical Thinking at Sonoma State University. First, the Basic Critical Thinking Insight that was assessed by the test showed that I scored as a 56% overall. After finishing many of the courses and implementing the process of critical thinking on a regular basis I retook the test and scored an overall score of 75% and increased my score by 19%. This shows that the insight and the flow of critical thinking can, in fact, become improved through implementation. …show more content…

This assessed the different elements that go into the thought process of critical thinking. In the beginning of this leadership program I scored a 41% on this particular part of the test. After being well into the program, I improved to a 57%, improving my score by 16%. The third portion of the test evaluated the Intellectual Standard of critical thinking, which I scored a 45% on. This potion was also improved over time in the leadership program by 11%. Intellectual Trait or Virtue is an area where I improved 14%. These scores all show that improvement through this degree program in the area of critical thinking is highly likely. On top of these percentage increases, my performance as a leader who implements critical thinking skills on a regular basis has improved significantly.
