Helping and doing things for people is something I have always enjoyed, and I believe nursing combines these perfectly. I have always liked working with kids and for that reason, I want to be a Neonatal Nurse. A lot of people think that a Neonatal Nurse just has the responsibility of receiving the newborn and feeding it. Even though at times this might be true a Neonatal Nurse has other roles. A Nurse has to track the heartbeat of the babies, check breathing and make sure their respiratory system works.
For over fifteen years I have enjoyed being an LPN. Working in nursing homes taught me to how to patience and how to use my knowledge to help my patients to the best of my ability. My time as an alcohol and drug rehabilitation nurse helped me to appreciate the courage it takes to admit to a problem, ask for help and the strength it takes to work to get better. Working in a hospital taught me to how to work in a fast paced setting while keeping my sanity intact.
Who would you want answering your call in the middle of a frightening hospital night: A caring CNA--or a grumpy, pompous doctor? For many, a certified nursing assistant is very critical to their hospital-stay care and often seem to make the difference between life and death. Certified nursing assistant are all over the world. Being a nursing assistant is not a easy task.
In the future, I would like to become a medical assistant. This career seems to be a perfect match for me because I have been an EMT for 16 years. I have always had a passion for helping people in their time of need, ever since I was a little kid. I would be the person out on the playground trying to help others, when they got hurt. I would be the kid when the fire department came to the school, for a public relations event, that would be right in the middle of them asking questions.

The idea of working in the medical field has always had a special place in my heart and has been in the back of my mind since I could remember. Helping others has always been a passion of mine as I look up to my family heritage in the medical field. Over the years, as I have matured, and narrowed my focus down to becoming a labor and delivery nurse where I get to help the mom and the baby. My biggest preference is working with kids and not the adults, but labor and delivery gives me the option to do both. I have grown up in a big family, me being the second oldest of eight kids, so I have spent a lot of time with babies over the years.
Growing up always having the dream of working in the hospital or doctors office setting set the mark of the education I needed to receive; throughout high school into college. Starting my freshman year in high school I was required to choose a major to study. Considering my dreams I decided to study Health Occupations. With this as my major I was given the opportunity to receive a Certified Nursing Assistant License. Which happens to be the title I obtain at this moment.
The first day I stepped onto the floor, I felt overwhelmed and I questioned myself if I was meant for this line of work. I was assigned 14 patients. Soon after interacting with all my patients, my perspective and doubts changed. After leaving for college; I started my college days as a full time pre-nursing student. I continued to work as a CNA and
I chose to pursue a degree in nurse so I can impact the lives of people and to provide a better life for myself. I had the opportunity to job shadow in my field of study multiple times. Touching lives of others would be an honor, whether I help a big accomplishment or if the help remains unnoticed. Being a nurse is my passion and it will be a privilege serving out my values to help others. My first experience that led me to pursue a nursing degree was a moment in labor and delivery.
As a child, I have never dreamed of becoming a nurse. I developed an interest in a nursing field after I had started working as a caregiver. My work experience as a caregiver helped me to realize that nursing is my calling. Throughout my experience, I have been privileged to know many amazing nurses I admired. Being a caregiver and having served elderly people have changed my perspective on life.

As a child, I dreamed of acquiring a career in Nursing. I was always fascinated by the amount of respect that nurses received during my doctor visits throughout my childhood. There are many reasons why I chose to major in Nursing such as the ability to take care of someone, the money and benefits that the career offered, as well as job stability and flexibility. On of my main reasons for pursing Nursing is the ability to care for someone other than myself.
Today, I am glad I choose nursing because I have overcome my social fears, learn to be a team player, learn how to prioritize and most importantly learned to manage stress. Lastly, I grew as a nurse with each semester because I learned how to respect and treat each patient as a unique individual. I have also learned to put my patient safety as my priority and provide presence because I realized through my clinical experience that, sometimes that all the patients need.
