I then spoke with Dr. Shawn Williams and he gave me enlighten. He told me about the different jobs and how flexible this major was. The only problem I was facing was to choose clinical or management. I figured out then a year later to choose management. I still found myself struggling taking chemistry and biology.
I was thinking about majoring in Psychology”, was my reply. “Well when I was in College I noticed that all the people who gravitated towards Psych did it because they had problems they wanted to solve. I think you can do better than that. Maybe you are not ready for College. Have you ever considered the Military?
I do expect to receive a Bachelor 's degree in Psychology so that I can get my Masters in Psychology. I 'm free-spirited, an open-minded
Immediately after graduating from Riverdale High School in 2009, I started my undergraduate career at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). Upon entrance to MTSU, I believed that my career path was in the field of pharmacy. I envisioned graduating from MTSU after only four years and would be directly on to pharmacy school thereafter. Towards the middle of the first semester, I quickly realized that this would not be the career path for me. I cut back on my course load and worked diligently to finish the semester.
My Dearest Parents, When you last heard from me, it was about two months when I first boarded the ship. The voyage was normal at first, the only discomfort being the number of passengers traveling with me. The reason for the overcrowding was due to the passengers hoping they can experience a new life for not only themselves, but also their family and friends. This was my intention too. After a couple of weeks at sea, there was a massive storm that threw the ship off course.
So am I, after serious thinking during the period, I decide to major in psychology because I love psychology, I like to help people. From an early age I have been intrigued by the human mind and how
I had a similar experience and decided to withdraw a second time after speaking with my career advisor, who encouraged me to be honest with myself and my apprehensions about medical school. As a result, I came to the realization that I did not have a desire to pursue a career as a medical doctor. This experience became a catalyst in steering me to my present career path. Taking into account my interests, personality, education and skill-set, I realized there were other avenues to make a meaningful contribution in the medical field such as neuropsychology and health care administration.
My grades didn 't allow me to enroll to the medical school. My grades were very good, but medical university required top grades such as 95% and up. Regrettably my grades as 91% considered as a failure in the medical school, so I changed my mind to be a Civil Engineering. I regret that I have chosen the easiest path of being a Civil Engineering, and I regret the time that I have missed without achieving my goal of being a doctor. I could just blame myself of not achieving my goal of being a doctor and I am not regret of studying Civil Engineering because I have learned a lot of interesting thing about the Environment and life.
Hi Troy, I am glad you are almost finish with your degree. When I first entered college over 20 years ago I was planning on being a psychology major. But after seeing my English college class seeing how much it took for me to write an essay. I ran to a degree that incorporated my love for math and business. I chose to do Accounting.
After high school I am hoping to attend Indiana University to major in Human Biology in pursuit of one day becoming a physician’s assistant. During my high school years I have put fourth much effort to succeed to the best of my ability. I have taken many courses throughout the years that have pushed me and allowed me to start shaping the career path that I plan to take. During the summer before my junior year I found out that my parents were getting a divorce. When I found out, the only thing I could think about was how my life was never going to be the same.
I took this a step further by researching the field and the career, before deciding that I think that it may be a good match for me, but, instead of being a Psychologist I would rather be a Psychiatrist. A Psychiatrist is similar to a Psychologist, but a Psychiatrist is able to prescribe medication to people and they also have the potential to make a higher salary than a Psychologist. Some benefits of becoming a Psychiatrist as opposed to being a Psychologist, is that I will get to really help people that need it, and I will be able to work more hands on with those who need
I'm really keen on the idea of studying Chemistry and Biology as these subjects have constantly intrigued me. Learning about the inner works of the body and how chemistry is heavily used in our lives has consistently fascinated me; as well as these subjects guiding me to my ambition of studying Gynaecology. In the future my ambition is to become a Gynaecologist and I am willing to endure the endless hours of work to make sure I reach my goal and being able to study these courses takes me a step closer towards it. Psychology is another subject that captures my interest; learning about the human mind and its functions and how/why we react to various mental states in different ways, especially those affecting behaviours in a given context, captivate me. Additionally, have chosen to study History as I particularly enjoy discovering how people survived and lived without acquiring the facilities, technology and knowledge that we possess and take for granted in society today.
In five years, I hope to be in college, studying about something I'm interested in. I want to get into a good college with a great psychology program where I can learn enough about it so I can turn it into a progression. One thing I've noticed is that it's hard to find a hobby which is directly related to psychology, unlike other professions where your hobbies can be very similar to what you would be doing in that job. I believe that given the environment I was born into, where I have had to help many people to get through tough periods in their lives, I could be a good psychologist. This being my reality, I have grown to enjoy listening to people’s problems and difficulties and trying to help them to the best of my abilities.
Being a health and fitness enthusiast I have always been interested in learning about how the mind works physically and emotionally, and in what ways the body reacts to various mental states is very intriguing. That is why I want to explore the mind and the essence of the human condition. We all question or try to make sense of our life; I believe that through its many perspectives, psychology has those answers. Psychology is accessible because not only is it a scientific study of thought and behaviour, it is also an art that can be applied by the individual to everyday life. I also believe we are all psychologists attempting to understand other people and ourselves.
Choosing a major can be a long path sometimes it takes longer for some people, but that isn’t an issue as long as one day you figure out what your passion is like I
