In an area that divides two countries, the Borderplex area has over 400 years of history creating a union between culture and traditions. This community with people from many ethnic backgrounds has created a bilingual and bicultural society. Using its location to its advantage, The Borderplex Alliance was found in the Mesilla Valley area, which locates between three states from two countries, its main cities are Las Cruces, NM, El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. The alliance takes advantage of its setting and ever-constant movement of international commerce as one of its main reasons for regional, national and international investment. To achieve its set up goals, expert committees were created with over 190 people from different business and public and private institutions, these committees meet twice a month to identify goals and develop continuous growth plans. Besides the economic advantages such as the international border and an industry wishing to expand, the Borderplex area is also an important academic sector, it is the only border area with three medical schools and it also ranks first in terms of post-secondary education, ensuring constant training and academic innovation focused in research and, technical and professional development. The Borderplex Alliance created CONREDES (by its initials in Spanish) looking for ways to create a better student society and workforce. This sponsored project encourages participation among the student community and the public and private businesses and industries with the goal of training and developing the talent of students in the region. It focuses on the continuous development, research and promotion of the students.
