Over the course of my entire high school career, I have had the opportunity to take numerous business classes through the High School of Business Program. These classes have most definitely given me a better insight into the business world, and all other aspects associated with it. The most recent business class I took was named Business Strategies, which focused on creating your own business. This was one of the most beneficial business classes I have taken, as it encompassed many aspects and realities of creating your own business. Although my class’ business was not entirely successful, it was a great opportunity to grow and learn with my fellow peers about the reality of our modern-day world.
This semester, we proposed an open-campus option for students in grades eleven and twelve. This proposal was well thought out and provided a detailed description which encompassed all of the procedures needed to make this business successful. Our plan included ways in which students could purchase these open-campus passes, cost of each pass, guidelines each student had to meet, and consequences for inappropriate use of the pass. Fortunately, this proposal was reviewed by our high school principal twice.

However, some minor changes needed to take place in order for the business to move forward. After the initial meeting, our group sat down together and revised the plan, which included the needed changes. Several days after, we met with our principal again, and the proposal was finally passed. This was a tremendous accomplishment by our group, however, the plan was soon after denied by the administration at the district office. Although this was an unfortunate event, we were able to learn from it, and move forward as a
Case Study 6 2. By appointing the ad hoc committee, has the superintendent undermined the authority of the assistant superintendent for business? When Dr. Davis wrote a formal recommendation to the former superintendent requesting centralized control of the principal’s activity funds, it was dismissed because there were many unanswered questions. Being a former principal in the district, Dr. Davis was fully aware of the mismanagement of these funds and continued to pursue the issue with the school board, despite the decision of the superintendent.
For example, Warhawk Academy offers all of its members the un-restricted access to park anywhere on campus. This exclusive benefits is to promote promptness to class and to relieve stress about parking violations. Other organizations will talk about the unfairness and the thoughts of others about the situation. Another negative comment one might hear about Warhawk Academy is that the organization is very competitive and selective; however, this fact is only partially true. Competition only occurs when one reaches the junior year of college because the availability decreases as the number of years increase, since Warhawk Academy has exclusive features such as; discounts on books, un-restricted parking, and early access to technology.
From this class, I have learned to work with other people, including students and adults, as well as leading a team, creating ideas, and problem
This course hasn’t influenced my career plans, but it has enhanced how I manage my projects and interact with colleagues on a daily basis. Furthermore, this class and all of my future classes will really be useful as I retire and become a self-employed government contractor. Reading about companies like Lincoln Electric, and how well they manage their employees and business inspires me to incorporate many of those techniques into my own company vision and mission. I’m using more critical thinking in my day-to-day activities and decision making. Critical thinking forces me to slow down and make better decisions.
The most significant takeaway that I have from this course would be learning information regarding John Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie. Now, the reasoning behind this is because these two men without a doubt influence the nation more than anyone else during their era and beyond. Furthermore, when looking at each one of these company’s net worth, they easily rival several nations gross domestic profit during this period. Additionally, their businesses employ more people across the country than any other companies of this time. Moreover, once these men reach the pinnacle of the corporate world, each one decides it is time to start giving back to their fellow man.
Every group will be responsible for creating a business, and presenting their business idea to the class. Each group will be responsible for answering their project questions during the presentation. Each student will have the opportunity to think like a business owner as well as a consumer. The class will vote on the best business. After each presentation, students will have to answer a series of questions that will be used to determine the winner.
I plan to major in marketing and minor entrepreneurship in college, so I feel I have and better understanding over the average student by having participated in the finance academy. The staff has always used the example of “you
As I walked into the cafeteria, I caught a whiff of the food being prepared in the cafeteria and thought to myself, “Why can’t we go off-campus to get lunch?” While SLA, the lunch program at Catholic High, provides the school lunches, there could be an alternative solution to this. Unfortunately, students are detained at school during lunch hours and are not able to leave campus during lunch forcing them to be served by SLA or bring their own lunch. If Catholic High School were to introduce an open-campus lunch, students and faculty would benefit greatly. While SLA does provide the lunch at CHS, they do not live up to their standard of “high quality, nutritious, and cost efficient”.
I am uniquely qualified to be admitted into the Wisconsin School of Business due to the fact that I have experience in the field of business as a member of collegiate DECA and as a marketer for College Works Painting. Participating as a member of collegiate DECA has broadened my understanding of what it means to be a business major by expanding my personal connections. Subsequently, by interacting with business majors with various emphases, I have accumulated more knowledge about what it takes to succeed in multiple areas of business. I have been introduced to local business owners, employers from career fairs, and general members of the student organization whom I may be able to use as connections during my career. Through competition, I have
Also, that the vison will give the community an opportunity for their voices to be heard and to be involved more in school activities, whether they are located on the school grounds or in a different location. As a leader it is my job to promote the interaction of these various groups and if the school follows the action plan this is what will take place. Standard 4 states just this “an education leader promotes the success of every student by collaborating with faculty and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs, and mobilizing community resources. Not only do we need to involve the community during the creation of the vision but we need to make sure that as the community changes we revisit the
There has been a major debate in many schools over the years: open campus. Students have had so many thought, opinions, and arguments over open campus, yet many schools remain closed to the idea. Administrators don’t seem to see the positives of having open campus. As with every other conflict on the world, there are pros and cons. On the subject of open campus I believe the pros outweigh the cons.
I am applying to earn a degree in Business Management at Texas State University. Using this model would allow Mr. Miller to review the mission of the school, determine whether ability grouping is aligned with the mission, and select an alternative that reflects the mission. 3. What action, if any, should Principal Miller take to demonstrate that he is an educational leader who treats people fairly, equitably, and with dignity and respect? Following Standard 3, Principal Miller should involve families and other stakeholders in the decision-making process. Mr. Miller should select and utilize a group decision technique will allow the opinions of the groups of parents, as well as other individuals and groups, to be heard and present their point of
Open campus at lunch time is a huge advantage for high school students, and is a great punishment as well. The student's responsibility to come back to school on time will have consequences if students don't follow it. This will help them realize that the word is run by rules and if people don't follow them, there will always have consequences. Students will be gaining responsibility for collage and the real world after that. To succeed in life people need independence, maturity, and responsibility.
I was immersed in a disappointment, and feelings of helplessness throughout the freshman year. Fortunately, the second degree option rekindled my extinct passion. Without hesitation, I chose Business Administration as my second major, which was the only option offered by Economic and Management College. Accounting Principles was the first subject that enabled me to gain insights into Accounting, the deeper I got myself involved in this subject, the more I found it fascinating. Also, I have taken inspiration from my internship experience.
