I am most attracted to Loma Linda University’s mission to make man whole and continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ and its commitment to faith and science. As a Seventh-day Adventist christian, the motto to make man whole has never been more personal than it is now. As I grow in my experience as a christian, to further the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus continues to take center stage. This mission and an understanding of the need for whole person care is something I seek to demonstrate and encourage through my profession as a nurse and involvement in my community.

I am interested in Howard University because it is an HBCU that encompass the themes of cultural diversity and education. Your commitment to scholars ensures me that at your school I will be right at home. Since I intend on on going down a medical path, I know that Howard University will provide me with best resources to follow my dreams. As a child I was always interested in the worlds around me and how things worked. As a result I participated in a Summer Enrichment Program located at Indiana University in Bloomington.
My job as a patient care technician allowed me to care for numerous individuals from a variety of backgrounds. Through this experience, I came to the realization that I loved people. I loved hearing their stories and the secret hopes and fears they would share with me in the dead of the night. I realized that I wanted to have a career where I could not only help people, but learn from them as well. I believe a career in the healthcare field would allow me to do this.
I want to embrace the challenge of USC. As a Film and Television Production major, I know that I can expect a fast-paced, hands-on learning environment. Will it be demanding? Of course. Will I occasionally feel overwhelmed?
With its dedicated faculty, diverse location, and vast network, USC's Marshall School of Business will help me prosper in the world of business! I hopefully intend to use these opportunities to its fullest potential by studying harder than I've ever studied-- USC is my "reach" school and I want to keep up with other students-- and soaking in SoCal culture to broaden my scope on business trends and life in LA. Because LA is such a diverse area, I am bound to gain insight on many different cultures, social classes, trends, and types of people, which will give me a unique, firsthand experience with communication and boost my overall knowledge! I plan on using this to help myself succeed in business and stand out when I apply for an internship
Much to the relief of my parents, my pat answer of a professional athlete, to “What do you want to do in the future?” evaporated when evaluations indicated I had no talent. Not knowing what careers suited me, I participated in summers programs at Ithaca, Adelphi, Syracuse respectively explored Sports Management, Business, and Engineering careers and worked on my English. I had great experiences, especially at Syracuse, but was still at a loss as to a profession.
The reason for being in CCU first of all is because I dropped out of college while studying for Medical Technology and that caused such a shift in the very foundation of my core in life that everything was hard and had to look at and deal life in very different ways. In truth a total wake up call, grow up and face the smallest mistake with the biggest consequence. Even though, through out life I have heard and seen how people may react to others who are not educated or with less money, I never thought or knew it would happen to me. My own family, not my parents, but cousins and relatives, who I have seen and grew together, had such a change of attitude and indifference towards me that it shocked me and it was unbelievable and to the fact
My interest in business has also led me to join Badger Business Professionals which is an organization that focuses on developing the fundamental business skills such as networking and business etiquette. This is done by bringing in Alumni and corporate speakers who pass along their advice from people already in the business industry. Even though all the speakers and Alumni pursued their degrees here at UW-Madison, each person had their own unique take and advice to share, and it was applicable to any setting in our daily lives which inspired me even more. My work experiences have also been a huge factor in my decision to pursue a business degree.
I am writing this letter in regards to the notification sent May 30th requiring that I withdraw from UNB as a result of my student assessment grade point average (GPA) for the 2015- 2016 term. I wish to appeal such academic decision based on medical reasons that lead to the negative outcome. I excelled academically during my first and second year at UNB, although I failed my third year with a GPA .8, I was able to sustain a cumulative GPA of 2.1. Following the completion of my last semester in April, I have been seeking counseling as I have been diagnosed with major depression by my family physician, prescribed an antidepressant to alleviate symptoms and ongoing counseling sessions, whereas both have had a significant benefit to the recovery of my diagnosis. The following is a recap of life events that transpired during my third academic years that greatly influenced my studies that lead to such a disastrous grade point average.
I feel that I am deserving of this scholarship because of the all time and effort that I have invested in getting myself where I am today. I was taught that to be successful in school and get to where I wanted to go in life I would have to work hard and get good grades. From an early age I have consistently myself to a high standard of maintaining good grades, and I haven't once let my grades get to a point where they kept me from making the Honor Roll. Getting to the point that I'm currently at has not been an easy task. I quickly learned that if I wanted to get good grades I was going to have to put forth the effort to get the grades I wanted, this meant a lot of studying.
In grade 11, I was introduced to the DECA club. DECA is an international organization involving students in business leadership and networking with other DECA clubs that share similar business interests, learning skills and goals. The DECA competition component involves a written exam and case study presentation, tailored to a specific business category. Teams are clustered by a school, where students may compete individually or in a partnership. My high school started DECA for the first time in 2014 and I thought, what better opportunity to pursue my interest in business than to become a founding member of this program at my school.
During my first two years of college, I completed my pre-business core classes, became the treasurer of a fraternity, and volunteered time to local organizations. I was proud to have stayed on course. The completion all of my pre classes allowed myself to see the different possibilities that were offered within the college of business. After being accepted into pro-school, I have been able to start thinking more about my goals and future career. I plan on working for a large corporation, as a marketing manager or within a marketing management team; this led me to declare my major in business marketing.
I will start off by saying I am not typically one that enjoys talking about myself because I feel like I am coming off too boastful; but I will do my best to depict myself in a different and more personal way than the version of "Dimare" that is seen from my application. As my application states, I graduated from Bracken Christian School, but what you may not know is the details about my school. My graduating class was 34, the high school was about 80-90 kids, and the entire school could fit in the school gym- talk about small. I enjoy the quaint, kind of quiet, simpler life.
Through my numerous experiences, I have attained unique qualifications that exceed the expectations of the Wisconsin School of Business. I am confident that with my noteable work and leadership background, I can bring value to the business school. I believe I am prepared to study management and business with the knowledge I have gained from my experiences. My previous experiences working for the University of Minnesota CFANS Development Office as well as the University of Wisconsin, Madison Institute of Clinical and Translational Research, have given me extensive knowledge in administrative support.
