Nutritional Assessment & Health Promotion for C.D.
Most teenagers do not worry about what they eat. Numerous of them participate in sports or extra curricular activities that leave them with limited time to eat. As a result of their busy schedules, teenagers often get food by going to a fast food restaurant. Usually, bad food choices do not cause teenagers to gain weight, especially if they are physically active. After high school and as people get older, they realize that they are not able to eat whatever they want without consequences. Some people adjust their diets to be more nutritious, while others continue with their old habits and usually gain weight. C.D. wrestled in high school, so during wrestling season he had to be cautious of what he ate in order to make weight for tournaments. Although C.D. was careful about what he ate

C.D’s waist measures 30.5 inches while his hips measure 35.5 inches. These measurement result in a waste-hip ratio of 0.85 for C.D.

24-Hour Dietary Recall C.D. reports eating Apple Jacks cereal with 2% milk for breakfast; a Philly cheesesteak with French fries for lunch; an apple for a snack between lunch and dinner; and chicken stir-fry with broccoli and rice for dinner.
Findings
C.D. drinks Gatorade and pop in addition to water. One 12-ounce soft drink contains 40 grams of added sugar, so C.D. is consuming empty calories with the one to two cans of pop consumed each day. Although C.D. likes several fruits, he does not like many vegetables which contain needed nutrients. Due to C.D. having IBS, he avoids foods that contain seeds. Unfortunately, that means C.D. does not consume several fruits and vegetables. IBS has also caused C.D. to not eat as much food, especially on the two to three days a week the IBS symptoms are irritated. On those two or three days, C.D. may not be consuming enough food to meet the recommended daily requirements for
