The Capstone Center for Student Success provides advising and support for students who may need additional educational assistance. The goal of the Capstone Center is to be able to help student transition to UA smoothly.
Director of the Capstone Center for Student Success, Mr. Smith has been committed to give the resources and the support for his students to be successful. Focusing on students who may struggle to be a freshman at UA based on their GPA, ACT or SAT, and high school class rank. Building a relationship, students feel comfortable communicating family, financial, and academic issues. With trust, the Capstone Center is able to be honest when discussing the students career paths. His strategy to motivate students is to provide as much structure where the student will feel confident.

The Student Support Services TRIO Program is funded by the U.S Department of Education. Peer mentoring, tutoring, community involvement, etc. are resources students are able to utilize at no cost. For fall 2017 153 students were listed on the president’s and dean’s list, 43% had a GPA greater than 3.0, and 37% CCCS student are Honors College eligible.
As a student counselor, Mr. Griffin focuses on the student personal and academic growth. Encouraging students to attend workshops and cultural events provides students with a more inclusive relationship. Having mandatory semester meetings with his students to set educational goals, lets students focus on reaching those specific goals. CCCS is a family-oriented program that aims to increase the graduation rate of their students.
