Five years ago I graduated from the New Jersey Institute of Technology with a degree in Digital Design Communications. At the time, I knew what I loved about it. The capacity of utilizing my artistic affinity, not only in a creative way but in a practical way as well. However, I did not have a clear path or idea of where it would take me, or where I wanted to go with it. At that moment, with a smile on my face and degree in hand, I did not have the clarity to sort things out, past the fact that I wanted to get a job in my field. I was fortunate enough to have found so. I was confident in my design skills and creative aptitude, it was everything else I worried about. It was then when the real learning started.

One good situational example was being able to assume the role of Creative Project Manager, and succeed at it. Assuming the role of Project Manager for the creative department at Feury Image Group, allowed me to work on my communication skills. It helped me improve the way I communicate not only with clients, but my peers as well. By improving my communication skills, it helped me understand more accurately the client’s point of view and needs. Even more so, I was able to utilize those communications skills to accomplish pre-set goals as a team within the company. However, my intention is to grow and elevate the professional knowledge accumulated throughout my work career in order to achieve my next milestone. My objective is to become a well-rounded problem solver UX designer. Everything I’ve learned about User Experience Design has been very organic and self-taught or through webinars. I would like to expand my intellectual knowledge of User Experience Design with the intended goal of advancing and better utilizing my comprehensive and execution process in order to carry out well executed UX projects into the world. It is why I have chosen to apply to your MBS in User Experience Design. I would like to learn more about UX research methodologies and strengthen my media and usability skills and believe your program is very fitting to do so.
