Eric Schlosser argues that marketing to children is the easiest and most strategic way to meet sales forecasts. In his book Fast Food Nation, Schlosser states that, “eight year olds are considered ideal customers; they have about sixty-five years of purchasing in front of them.” Children are extremely malleable and easily influenced as they are forming their habits, opinions, and tastes. When companies market to kids, it is likely that the child will continue to purchase from that company as they grow up. The fast food industry greatly relies on its familiarity and consistency.
In Eric Schlosser article, “ Kid Kustomers” he focuses on how American companies have began to target kids in the marketing business. This began in the 80’s and the companies attempt to influence children at a young age to decide on what companies they will buy from. Doing so the companies hope to create lifelong customers and increasing their profit. This can be seen in areas such as a children’s club where ads are seen regularly to be viewed by the kids. Nevertheless these companies benefit from targeting child audiences because eventually it will increase sales.
Creating different cartoon bread shape stickers with contact information, store address on it and pass it out would give the bakery a great outcome. Stickers aren 't just for kids anymore, they 're powerful sales tools, which need to be a part of the store marketing program. As Contagious said, “we need to design products and intuitive that advertise themselves and create behaviors, residue that sticks around even after people have brought the product or espoused to ideal. ” (page 23). Giving away logos sticker will attract the customers, result in the sticker being applied to a visible location such as their car, skateboard, wall, etc.

When children use these tactics they tend to cry, beg and convince their parents to buy them the the things they want. Before companies influence children, they study them. They study children’s social behavior and what their current tastes are. Companies have cultural anthropologists watch children at homes, stores, and restaurants. Schlosser stated that the ‘children’s club’ really helped with increasing sales because it provides “the fundamental needs for a status and belonging of the children’’.

The fourth finding I found was that even though Pre-K environments have an emphasis on group activities there was often a designated area in the classroom where children could go and be alone and self-reflect. However, these spaces were used differently throughout the three programs. In one program children went to what they called the “cool down chair” when they misbehaved. In this particular program usually a talkative child who may have been disruptive would have to go to the chair and think about what he or she did wrong. The chair was located in a corner where there were crayons and other play items that the child was allowed to use, but mainly it was a sort of punishment.

Fidget Spinners What do you think are fidget spinners a big distraction or are they really helping students in the classroom. I think that students should be aloud to care a spinner around. Spinners can help kids in many different ways. One way spinners are helping kids is by keeping them busy so they 're not talking or running around because think about it would you rather have kid talking and running around a classroom because there is nothing to do or they 're bored or have kids spinning a fidget spinner that will help them focus and not be as bored Another reason fidget spinners should be aloud in class rooms are because they can help kids get there work done. Kids that have certain disabilities can easily spin a
Tokenism as defined by (Dictionary.com) is the practice or policy of making no more than a token effort or gesture, as in offering opportunities to minorities equal to those of the majority. Tokenism in an early childhood setting means to be specific in the approach of cultures, an example could be in a 3 year old kinder room when a group time is done and the educator may decide to conduct a group time that is specifically about the aboriginal culture, but then the next day you might do a group time that is based on animals or on a different culture and then for the rest of the kinder week at group time you do something different. A frequent thing that comes up for developments affected toward childhood is society. Society, be of rank, the norm, etc greatly impacts a child more than anything. In The Domostroi, states, “A man who loves his son will whip him often so that when he grows up…find profit in him…pride..make enemies jealous and will boast” (Doc 1), it says that if a child is whipped, educated, disciplined, that the child will grow up to be a good person and that their families will be able to make profit of him, and be amazing that others will get jealous. This applies to all ranks in society. Wither they be nobles or peasants, if a person greatly believes in what the general public hears and knows about or pretend to know about, they will apply it to their
The eleventh of May, two-thousand twelve, my world collapsed. It was as if every piece of my life was crumbling into a pile of brokenness. David Martin Pearson of eighteen years, had passed away from a brutal fight against brain cancer. David showed me there is more to life than battles, devastating occurrences, and depression. Since the passing of my brother, my life has completely changed to becoming a leader and taking a stand for those who are unable to fight.
Over the past few months, the class has been discussing typical and atypical language development and the assessment and intervention of children with language delay or disorder. In line with this, the students were asked to observe children aged 0-12 years old with language problems for 2 hours. For this requirement, I went to a therapy center situated in Quezon City last November 16, from ten (10) A.M. to twelve (12) N.N. The center has multiple rooms that are used for speech therapy and occupational therapy. During my observation, two speech pathologists and two children with language disorder were sharing one speech therapy room.
