.The Civil War changed the country in many ways. Thousands of men on both sides died during the Civil War. “The Union Army lost 352, 528 men and the Confederate Army lost 258,000 men” (Doc F). Innovative ways to fight came about during the Civil War.
The American Civil War resulted in the most casualties in American history. The political and social fallout as a result of the war still reverberates to this day. As more and more states wanted to join the Union both sides, The North and The South, wanted to gain more states as either slave states or free states. Having more states join their side meant, they would have more power in the government. Although inevitable, it was delayed by 40 years through agreements and compromises.
There were about 2,128,948 united soldiers that went to fight in the Civil War, and about 620,000 died while fighting for their freedom. They fought in many places like Vicksburg, Gettysburg, Stones River, Shiloh, and Spotsylvania, ect. The President of the United States at the time of the Civil War was Abraham Lincoln. He was the 16th president.

The Civil War changed the way that many of the people in this country view race. The war also vastly affected the government and the unity of the United States. This would ultimately be the largest and most expensive, monetary wise and mortality wise, war that the United States had ever seen. The United States would be changed forever because of this new war of age old issues.

After four years of conflict, the North defeated the South, and the country was brought back together. Even though the war was over, reconstruction was needed in order to unify the nation once more but also caused a divide in American government. Other people think it’s due to economic reasons due to taxation issues. This had been a huge controversy for a while but most people say that it was mostly because 11 southern states wanted to make their own union and keep with the slave ways. Aside from the compromises and battles, Social Power is the main reason the American Civil War commenced. For example, new amendments were established. The thirteenth amendment, established in 1865, banned slavery. While the fifteenth allowed all men (not woman yet), no matter what race, to vote. Another good impact, was the First Transcontinental Railroad. This railroad was formed not too long after the Civil War and was mostly built by Chinese workers.
