Buying materials for the classroom aren’t as cheap as it used to be from pens to pencils or even notebooks and calculators, phones can do the same thing any of these materials can do. Materials for school aren’t cheap anymore, that's why students should be able to bring their own phones to class and use them instead of charging the schools thousands of dollars to buy materials when that money could go towards the refurbishment of the school. Though cell phones are currently banned in many classrooms, they moreover are used to improve the student’s academic lives. Teachers in classrooms around the world have to buy supplies for their classrooms, they aren’t ordinarily funded. Should cell phones be stored during school hours is the million dollar question today. Students at Norman Thomas High School stand outside of school every morning and pay for their cell phones to be checked in, (NEA Today). When someone is so attached to their cell phone that they have anxiety about what could happen to it during the day, whether it be stolen or lost, the disease is called nomophobia, it consequently occurs in teens ranging from 12 to 19 years old. Nomophobia can cause someone to stop paying attention in class or even cause them to break into an anxiety attack if they don’t have their cell phone near themselves. (Psychology Today) Everyone who brings a cell phone to school must check it in at the bus, every time they have to check their phones in they pay $1, throughout the year one student has to pay around $185 to store their phone. In a single day, the bus could make upwards of $1000.and per year they could make around or more than $185,000 out of one school with 1000 kids, imagine if this was Thunder Bay Junior High, most likely people would be outraged if a change this big was to occur. If students are worried enough about their phones being stolen or lost to stray away from learning in the classroom, they should be able to carry them on themselves at all times to keep the symptoms of nomophobia from
