The countries that were involved in world war 1 were Serbia, Russia, France, Britain, Italy and the USA. The side that won the war was Great Britain, the United States, and the Soviet Union formed a Grand Alliance that was the key to victory. Germany did not know they lost the war because German territory was rarely occupied in the war while Germany conquered a vast Empire in the east and subdued Romania and Serbia in the South. The war that the Versailles treaty officially put an end to was the First World War. The US president claimed that reductions to trade barriers, fair adjustment of colonies, and respect for national self-determination would reduce economic and nationalist sentiments that lead to war.
The Industrial Revolution greatly impacted Europe and allowed them to start Imperialism. Europe started colonizing other countries and it became a competition. It soon started to get violent and thus began World War I. The causes of World War I were Militarism, Alliances, nationalism, imperialism, and assassination, but the most important cause was nationalism because all of Europe wanted to create their own national pride for their own countries, and they started ethnic issues.
From the lesson of training, I also realized the weight that officers hold when it comes to building trust, motivating, and pushing their soldiers. They are going to expect the utmost level of skill as well as professionalism that you must provide as an officer. In return, it is your right to expect the same level of excellence from your soldiers, being there to push them above the standard and holding them to being experts and professionals. After the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919, World War One was over. The countries were trying to fix the problems that had led to WW1. The countries created a League of Nations to try to prevent other countries from fighting each other. Although different countries tried to reduce their militaries, mankind failed to address problems from World War One because they blamed the war on Germany, plus the league of nations was too weak to prevent international aggression.

This world war caused many civilians across the globe to fall into depression and disillusionment. Civilians lost hope in their leaders. However, what were the main causes that led to such a big war affecting millions across the globe to occur?

This aura of new achievements and new ideas kindled a nationalist flair among citizens and their countries. Whether it be from successes of the state, or the unification of a common culture despite existing political boundaries, the people experienced a new and thrilling sensation of identity. Such a flame unleashed rebellious sparks, igniting the “powder keg” of Europe, launching the Great War.

Although, soldiers were not the only ones experiencing poor conditions during the war Citizens, and even countries, were affected by the war in various ways. Citizens in the U.S were stripped of their right of freedom of speech under the first amendment. WWI caused a large epidemic in the U.S regarding health safety.

For our first task we responded to a stimulus of a soldier writing to his mother and a military wives song, which left me with the impression that the war in both modern day and in the 1900's affected family in the same way, as much as it did the soldiers. This stimulus was more relatable than the previous stimuli as it was featuring family, love and loss which most people have experienced, therefore understand the emotions better. I believe that out of all the stimuli we have had so far this one gave me the best impressions of the emotions experienced during the war as it was more relatable and up to date than the others we have seen so far. After 7 long years that i have been a soldier in war I can finally come home. I am almost here i can’t wait to see my girls again, My beautiful wife and my now 9 year old daughter. It has been so hard in the war especially without them, i’ve lost so many friends right next to me in battle. It was one of the many horrible things that i wish didn’t happen in war. I joined the war in the first place because of the stupid “join or die!” thing.
Soldiers train rigorously, preparing for the departure of war. They sacrifice all that they have to fight for their country. As they return after the war, they are left with painful experiences and traumatizing memories, suffering from their inevitable conditions. However, the spouse, families and children back at home are suffering even more than soldiers.
