The definition of a teacher is someone that teaches a group of students in a facility. The Stetler Model of Evidence Based Practice was first established as the Stetler/Marram Model of Research Utilization. “The Stetler model has long been known as a practitioner-oriented model because of its focus on critical thinking and use of findings by the individual practitioner. The 2001 version provided clarification that this guided problem-solving process also applies to groups of practitioners engaged in Research Utilization/EBP” (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2015, p. 245). This model facilitates the integration of evidence into practice, many individuals can be involved as contributors in this method, but a core group may be needed in planning the different stages of the model.

Reflecting on my educational and practical experiences, I appreciate the infinite influence that teachers have on children. I realise that children will take the skills and knowledge learnt in the classroom and use it throughout their lives. I know a teacher has to deal with many daily pressures and challenges, in the classroom. However, I feel I require the skills needed to deal with these challenges. As a teacher I hope not only to be an educator but a positive role model, whom the children can look up to and trust.

Being an outstanding teacher goes beyond acquiring the competence and knowledge to deliver rigorous academic instruction to a diverse group of students. Outstanding teachers possess a multitude of qualities making them unique and unforgettable to the children they serve. I believe that outstanding teachers are passionate, inspired, creative, compassionate, patient and understanding.
Being a teacher is a journey that has much to do with learning about yourself and being aware that what happens in your classroom reflects only on how are you with yourself. Teachers are not conscious that they project into students, and that affects how things go in the classroom. I believe the first characteristic of a good teacher is that he/ she is always willing to analyze his/her teaching performance. Second the teacher is humble enough to receive input about the development and application of techniques, learning from it and improving.
