Why Cheerleading Should be Considered a Sport No matter how much you have cheered in the past, if you have ever been a cheerleader and someone brings up the conversation whether cheer is a sport or not, all cheerleaders will get riled up to defend their sport. The majority of people who spark the question are just trying to irritate cheerleaders. I am a cheerleader at Burley High School and let me tell you, it takes so much hard work, time, and dedication. I have personal experience being a cheerleader. When people tell me that cheerleading isn't a sport, I get upset.
Did you know that There are nearly 4 million cheerleaders in the U.S, but only 400,000 of those 4 million are high school cheerleaders? Cheerleading plays an important role in lots of girls lives. Cheerleading is a sport that has two different definitions. Cheerleading is considered to be a sport where it incorporates gymnastics and dance moves into a performance. The other type of cheerleading incorporates cheers and loud voices to encourage sports teams as they perform.
Due to my involvement in numerous extra-curricular activities, I have been able to greatly improve my leadership abilities. Throughout by six years in cheerleading, I have learned how to be a good representation of my school by doing what was right, even if I was doing it alone. At the beginning of my senior year, I was proclaimed as captain of the Varsity squad. With this position, I have worked to represent both my squad and my school by making the tough decisions and keeping spirit alive. To me, being a cheerleader meant being a leader first and cheering second.
The passionately about doing someday is to be on the biggest cheerleading team in america”The Great White Sharks”. What i'll have to do to accomplish this dream someday and what struggles might I encounter during this accomplishment and to reflect on it. It will be super hard because the best is on Great Whites I have to be the best if I want to be on that team and be very big at cheer competitions. I will go threw a lot in my life because I could not become something that I really want to become. I want to be apart of the biggest cheerleading team in the world which will be very very hard I will have to move out of country, I would have to move to Canada to accomplish my dream of being on my team.
Being a cheerleader takes a positive attitude and the willingness to work hard! It takes commitment, self-discipline, and dedication. It takes energy and skill and it takes each of us working together to be our very best! Cheerleaders are role models at school and in the community.
Being cheer captain is something you have to work for and should keep working for even if you get it. Becoming captain is not a popularity contest and should not be thought of as a position to be better than others. Being captain should be something that you want to make your team better and be held to the standards that everyone will ahold you to. It is also something that a lot of girls dream of. As captain, I want us to be a family.
As a student in highschool, I contribute to numerous teams. I participate in cheerleading for varsity football and basketball. For cheerleading we all work together and create cheers and dances that we perform at games. We also are assigned to compose cheers by ourselves to teach the whole squad. I have been a cheerleader for three years now.
In high school, I wasn’t the best cheerleader when I first started, but with hard work and dedication I achieved my goals. I am Cashea Jones, and this bear represents my motivation to overcome adversity. Having this mindset helped me achieve my goals in cheerleading. Since then, it has also helped me through college. I joined the competition cheerleading squad my junior year of high school.

I’ve been an only child up until last year when on July 18th, my little brother Ethan was born.
