I would like to be a child protective investigator. There are many traits that go along with being a leader in this profession but I have chosen six that I feel are essential. Five out of six of these traits I feel very confident however one of them I could use work in. The first trait I felt was key in being in child protective investigation was compassion, or being compassionate. I listed this first because I think this would be my driving factor to take on this career. It is what will get me out of bed every morning, caring and knowing I’m about to make a small difference in a child’s life. I’m a bit of a dreamer but for the most part, I like to see the facts, which I think is extremely important as a child protective investigator. I can take a step back and look at all the facts before making a decision, a key component. (“Child Protective Investigator”, 1970) The third trait is one just about any leader should possess and that is drive. Being driven is important in really life in general, when I wake up in the morning I make a list of the task I will accomplish that day or week and then get them done. When I set my mind to something I will make it happen. The fourth trait I selected that is important to have in order to be a child protective investigator is advocate. According to dictionary.com being an advocate is along the lines of making a case or defending a cause or person. (advocate, n.d.) As a child protective investigator, I want to be the voice for someone who may not have one, or is too afraid to use it. I think I fully possess this trait and will use it to the best of my ability.
