Childhood Obesity is when a condition in which a child is overweight for his or her age and height. Symptoms of childhood obesity are shortness of breath, binge eating, overweight, sedentary lifestyle, or pot belly. There are many home treatments such as physical exercise, weight loss, low fat diet, and low calorie diet. Pediatrician provides medical care for infants, childhood, and teenagers. Childhood Obesity can lead to diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. There may be no symptoms other than weight that’s above normal. Improving the entire family’s diet and exercise habits is one of the best ways to have a healthy weight of the child. The number of overweight children in the United States has increased a lot in recent years. About 10 percent of 4-5 year old children are overweight. Overweight is more prevalent in girls than boys and in older preschoolers. All preschoolers exhibit their own individual body structure and growth pattern. Some activities are doing sports, that's a good activity for girls and boys. There are some steps you can take at home to help your child succeed: Be a role model- choose healthy foods and active sports for yourself. If you need to lose weight, you will motivate your child to do likewise. Also try to take some time to play with your own kids or go to a park and make active games. Children are good learners and they often mimic what they see. Parents should stop buying junk food because kids always like to eat snacks. Buying chips, ice cream, etc. are bad for their health lifestyle. Some good snack to have at home are like fruit, crackers, and many other low calorie snacks.
